Under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the national struggle continued across the country, culminating in the Great Offensive, which began on August 26, 1922, and ended victoriously in Dumlupınar on August 30, marking the liberation of our homeland from foreign occupation.
The first-ever celebration of August 30 as a national holiday took place in Kahramanmaraş in 1923.
In May 1935, it was officially declared Victory Day, and since then, it has been celebrated across Turkey every year with various events.
